The Park Hyatt Addis Ababa features a multifaceted concept that draws inspiration from nature, particularly the more than 900 bird species found in Ethiopia. Rather than focusing on a single feature, the design combines the reception area, lobby lounge, and tea lounge to reflect this interwoven and layered concept.
Design elements include artworks by local artists that represent Ethiopia, while the upholstery fabrics are inspired by traditional “TIBEB” fabrics and embroidery found in Ethiopian attire. Glass and metal chandeliers in the lobby lounge evoke the appearance of birds’ nests, while the blue glass bird chandeliers in the reception consist of 100 individual blue glass birds, each representing the Turaco, Ethiopia’s national bird. This detail reinforces the overarching concept of the Park Hyatt Addis Ababa.
